I am a final year student studying in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, major in Management and Marketing Development. I would like to improve my personal skills and work in marketing area during my internship. I was excited every day to come to Taiwan Institute of Sustainable Energy (TAISE) because I was doing works that were interesting and important. I did a seven weeks administration and assistance internship in TAISE which was initiated and funded by the advocates of sustainable energy in 2007, aiming to facilitate research and development of sustainable energy and promote sustainable energy infrastructure. It is my honor to have this opportunity which met with Chairman Dr. Eugene Chien, my supervisors and colleagues. TAISE provided a good autonomy but still gave me plenty of guidance and support. I was assigned to the Center for Corporate Sustainability (CCS). CCS established by TAISE at 2015. It focuses on the Corporate Sustainability and provide various tailor-made trainings or workshops to the Corporate.

We all know that practical experience is the best, and internship give me that hands-on experience I need. During these seven weeks, TAISE assigned me three main duties. First, I provided assistance in the daily operation of TAISE. For the upcoming Global Corporate Sustainability Award, I collected and contacted various parties, such as companies, organizations and judges and handled the data inputting. Apart from this, I also assisted the 5th CSR training course and listened the talks which educate me. Those tasks allow me understanding comprehensively about the corporate sustainability. For example, I know more about the 17 sustainable development goals which adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015.

Second, as my major, I have assisted the marketing part of CCS. For instance, I designed and translated lots of publishing materials, such as event leaflets and booklets. This required me to design a creative for each project. For instance, I translated the Public Opinion on Electricity Use and Energy Transition in Taiwan and used the Indesign to design the layout. Also, I finished the first version of the CCS 4th annual report during the internship. Additionally, I supported the social media marketing which mainly focus on the Facebook Fan pages by utilizing what I have learnt in my university courses. I report back my recommendations of the Facebook Fan pages to the team.

Third, I have involved in organizing and projecting different activities, such as 5th Climate Change and Sustainable Development Seminar, 2019 Sustainability Youth Leadership Camp, 17th Council with CEO Lecture in E.Sun Bank and two Sustainable Workshops. For example, I mainly greeted the medias of 5th Climate Change and Sustainable Development Seminar and leaded the participant to their seats at 17th Council with CEO Lecture in E.Sun Bank as part of the reception team. Apart from this, I assisted the sustainability boardgame at the National University of Kaohsiung Sustainability Workshop and learned the aborigine’s archery.

As my internship draws to a close and I reflect back on all I have learned, I realize what an excellent experience this has been. In these seven weeks, the internship is very well organized, and the culture is relaxed. There was a lot to learn about not only the sustainable development but also the operation of the Non-Governmental Organization. Over the course of the internship I learned many things on the best ways to market a Non- Governmental Organization. In my opinion, the best way to learn is by doing. The internship has reminded me that the higher level of sustainability can make our would better. I am very happy that I was able to be part of TAISE and hope they enjoyed having me as much as I enjoyed being part of their organization.
