The 2025 4th SDG Asia Expo Practice Forum and Award Ceremony took place on October 28 at the NTUH International Convention Center. With the theme “New Trends in Sustainability: From Decarbonization to Net Zero”, the event convened more than one hundred representatives from leading companies, government agencies, and academia. The focus was clear: transform sustainability from a public commitment into a governance practice grounded in measurable outcomes. The forum also marked an important milestone on the road to the 2026 5th SDG Asia Expo.
Net Zero as Governance and Competitiveness
Dr. Eugene Chien, Chairman of the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), emphasized that sustainability has evolved from corporate image-building into core business competitiveness. MICE events are no longer solely trading platforms but have become connectors for value creation, knowledge exchange, and transparent
performance display.
He recognized this year’s breakthrough:
“With more than 50,000 visitors, 180 exhibitors and close to 600 booths, we achieved new records while expanding international visibility through multilingual services. The momentum will continue as we move toward the 5th SDG Asia Expo in 2026. We look forward to everyone joining us again to keep advancing together.”
From Venues to Mobility: A Playbook for Net Zero Operations
In a keynote on sustainable MICE strategies, Dr. Pei-Hua Hu from the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) outlined actionable pathways tailored to event scenarios. The plan is built on four pillars:
- Energy efficiency improvement
- Reduc on of venue and transporta on emissions
- Scaling waste recovery and circular resource use
- Consistent disclosure with third-party verification
By integrating energy management, travel footprint data, and post-event material recovery, MICE operators can establish replicable models supported by trusted data.
Turning KPIs into Real Action
During the panel discussion, Deputy Director-General Jen-Yi Hou of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Net Zero Office and sustainability leaders from CTCI Group, Longchen Paper and Packaging, and A.S.O.+ shared how carbon pricing, supply chain cooperation, smart logistics, and community engagement can accelerate decarbonization in real operations.
Hou described the Expo as a living laboratory, where circular materials, rental equipment, and interactive learning show how ecology and energy can coexist within exhibition environments.
At the CTCI Group booth, 3D anima on and paper art installations demonstrated circular design and inclusiveness. A.S.O.+ presented shoe recycling through hands-on interaction, achieving a 99 percent material recovery rate. Longchen showcased a climate ac on booth constructed with 99 percent recycled paper, fully reclaimed after the event, reinforcing the possibility of zero-waste exhibition design.
These examples demonstrate how the Expo enables public awareness, corporate innovation, and collaborative solutions to converge.
Recognizing Leadership: SDG Asia Exhibition Awards
The SDG Asia Exhibition Awards highlighted organizations that excel in carbon disclosure, circular design, information transparency, and stakeholder engagement. Winners spanned multiple sectors, illustrating the rapid expansion of sustainability leadership across Taiwan.
Sustaining Momentum Toward the 2026 SDG Asia Expo
The 2025 Expo featured exhibitors from ten countries and sectors including manufacturing, engineering, technology, construction, healthcare, finance, academia, and civil society. Through immersive experiences and interactive showcases, visitors were able to understand the practical value of decarbonization, circular systems, and transparent supply chains. These results set a strong foundation for the 2026 5th SDG Asia Expo, ensuring that Taiwan continues to align with the latest international standards.
TAISE invites enterprises, government agencies, hospitals, and universities to participate in the 2026 Expo, taking place August 27 to 29 at Taipei World Trade Center. Together, we will scale connectivity, accelerate innovation, and strengthen global competiveness.
